Web design & development in Swansea

Swansea businesses need sites that compete with Cardiff agencies on quality, without the retainers. I’m Zak Furness, based in Carmarthen and working with Swansea firms across the city centre, SA1, and the wider bay area. You get custom web design and Next.js development: fast on mobile, clear calls-to-action, and a straightforward path from first message to a live site.

Projects are run from Carmarthen with WhatsApp for quick questions and booked calls when you want a scoped quote. I serve Swansea regularly. Most work is remote, with clear milestones on a staging link before go-live.

What I build for Swansea businesses

Web design and development only on this page. Browser extensions and SaaS builds are covered on the main portfolio if you need them.

01. Web design

Brand-led layouts for Swansea professional services, hospitality, creative businesses, and SMEs who want a site that feels current, not a generic template with your logo dropped on.

02. Web development

Next.js marketing sites and light web apps: service pages, enquiry flows, analytics-ready structure, performance tuned for mobile, and free Vercel hosting with no monthly hosting bill from me.

Why work with a Swansea-area web developer from Carmarthen?

Swansea has no shortage of agencies, but many small businesses want a single developer who answers WhatsApp, quotes honestly, and ships without layers of account management.

The city mix (university, waterfront regeneration, independent retail in SA1, and firms along the M4 corridor) means one-size-fits-all templates rarely fit. I tailor structure and copy to how you actually win work.

You still get production-grade builds (this site is Next.js on Vercel). The difference is direct contact and pricing that reflects a freelance workflow, not a city-centre office overhead.

FAQs for Swansea

Do you travel to Swansea for meetings?
Day-to-day work is WhatsApp and scheduled calls. I’m based in Carmarthen and serve Swansea remotely, which keeps costs down and projects moving quickly.
Who do you build Swansea websites for?
Small and medium businesses: trades, consultants, food and drink, retail, creative studios, and founders who need a credible site before pitching bigger clients.
Can you help with SEO in Swansea?
Every site ships with sensible titles, metadata, speed, and structure. Ongoing SEO retainers aren’t my focus. I build the site right first; you can layer local SEO or content marketing on top.
How much does a website cost?
Websites start from £300 depending on complexity and the features you need. I’ll give you a fixed quote after we scope the work. No surprise invoices.
Is hosting included, or do I pay every month?
There’s no monthly hosting bill from me. Your site runs on Vercel’s free hosting tier, so you’re not paying a platform subscription on top of the build. Your main ongoing cost is usually just renewing your domain name each year, typically around £10–£15 with most registrars.
Why not just use Wix, Squarespace, or GoDaddy?
Those builders are fine if you want to do it yourself on a template, but they charge a monthly subscription. Over five years that often adds up to more than £1,250 for a basic site, and if you stay longer you can end up spending thousands. You’re usually renting space on their platform rather than owning a site you can move freely. A custom build on free hosting is one project cost plus your domain, without being locked into their billing forever.
Do you offer a maintenance service?
Yes. For £50 a month I host the site for you and include one hour of changes each month (new photos, small text edits, and similar). I’m also happy to set you up on free hosting and transfer the site so you own it and have nothing else to pay beyond your domain renewal.
